The relationship between dragon and human began to shift significantly with that confrontation, though the permanent change in dragon-human relations is more fully explored in *The Other Wind*. While dragons generally remain distinct, a rare hereditary connection exists: Therru is the daughter of two humans with distant dragon ancestry, a trait revealed later rather than granted by transformation or a dragon king's decision.
